Open to all Unifor members.

Indigenous rights are inherent, collective rights that extend to Indigenous Peoples today based on the fact that they are the descendants of the Peoples and governing societies that were resident in Canada long before settlers arrived. Learn more about Indigenous rights to independence through self-determination regarding governance, land, resources and culture. Why is there a continued pattern of Canadian governments making decisions in the absence of Indigenous consent? What steps can Canadians take to ensure these constitutional foundations—meant to define Canada—are upheld?

Gina Smoke - Unifor’s Indigenous Liaison, will moderate this discussion

Pam Palmater - Mi'kmaq lawyer, Professor at Ryerson University and Activist

This workshop will be hosted online through Zoom, participants will be emailed information on how to join. You must RSVP.
