Open to all Unifor members.
The federal government has announced September 30th as a new annual statutory holiday called the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as a day to honour the experiences of former students of the Indian Residential School System (IRSS) and promote awareness about the IRSS and the harm it has had and continues to have on Indigenous communities.
In honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – join us for this important presentation that centers the voice of Eva Wilson-Fontaine, a highly respected and admired matriarch within the Indigenous Community. Eva oversees the delivery of services and programs to families and communities affected by Canada’s Indian Residential School system.
This is an outstanding opportunity for listening, learning and understanding the truth about the effects and impacts of the IRSS on Indigenous people today. Together we can open our hearts and step onto the path of truth and reconciliation with First Nations, Inuit and Metis people in Canada.
Gina Smoke - Unifor’s Indigenous Liaison, will moderate this presentation
Eva Wilson-Fontaine – a leader, a visionary and a mentor. Eva is a member of the Peguis First Nation located on Treaty 1 territory.
This workshop will be hosted online through Zoom, participants will be emailed information on how to join. You must RSVP
