Navigating the pandemic for local unions has meant adjusting practices and systems in light of rapidly evolving news and advisories. We know that many local unions have made changes to operations, schedules and the way you are connecting with members during the COVID-19 pandemic. The national union has developed resources that will help you in your work to represent and advocate on behalf of your members.
This workshop will be of particular interest to local unions with their own paid staff, and that rent or own offices. The workshop will review existing government response programs that might assist locals in your operations. Topics covered will include:
- The federal government 75% wage subsidy
- Work sharing
- Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA)
- Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance (CERCA)
- Mortgage and loan deferrals
- Different provincial programs
- Other helpful resources
